Here's a look at my major freelance clients and employers in recent years, plus a publication I launched on my own. Click on the headlines for details.

In 2017, after many years of helping to launch publications for other companies, I resolved to create one of my own. The Steampunk Explorer came into this world in March 2018, and since then it has become a top online destination for steampunk fans and creators.

The Dark Report is a subscription newsletter from The Dark Intelligence Group. It aims to provide “reliable business intelligence for clinical laboratories, pathology groups, and laboratory diagnostics,” per its tagline.

Since 2019, I have contributed dozens of stories to Dark Daily, a free e-newsletter that covers developments of interest to managers in clinical laboratories and anatomic pathology groups.

For 20 years, I was a freelance contributor to HOW, a trade publication for graphic designers. Most of my stories focused on software tools for this audience.

Rotovision SA, a U.K.-based publisher, commissioned me in 2011 to write Great Graphic Design in Half the Time, a how-to book for graphic designers. Focal Press released it in the U.S. as Graphic Design to Beat the Clock.

Most people learn about healthcare by going to school. I got my health education by running a subscription publication for PR people. My “instructors” turned out to be other journalists.
